Before you ask

Petroleum questions

What do I need to start a fuel distribution business in South Africa?

You need a petroleum wholesale licence before you sell fuel wholesale. You also need written employment contracts, a disciplinary code, UIF and COIDA registration, and a safety file that covers flammable storage, hazardous chemicals, spills and dangerous goods transport. Clients usually ask for a supply agreement, a company profile and a B-BBEE affidavit.

Do you apply for the petroleum wholesale licence for me?

No. Every tier includes a petroleum wholesale licence compliance guide that explains what the licence requires. The application itself is made by you.

Which bargaining council covers the petroleum sector?

The National Bargaining Council for the Chemical Industry (NBCCI) has a petroleum sector. Every tier includes an NBCCI compliance guide.

Can I edit the templates?

Yes. Every document is supplied in Microsoft Word or Excel, completed with your company details. You can edit and reissue them for as long as you trade.

Do you register my company or handle my tax?

We handle CIPC filings through our CIPC & Statutory Filings service. We do not do SARS registrations or tax work. That is your accountant's work, and we will say so rather than guess.

Is this legal advice?

No. ComplianceIQ SA provides business compliance advisory services. Our guidance does not constitute legal advice. For matters requiring formal legal representation, we recommend consulting a qualified attorney or registered practitioner.
